Susan Horne

Houston-based Susan Horne Antiques was born out of a love of friendship and antiques.

“For many years, as my girlfriends and I traveled to Round Top for the spring and fall Antiques Festivals, my knowledge and my passion for antiques grew, and I realized my deep desire to be in the antiques business,” Susan says.

In 2013, she started with a small booth at The Arbors.

“I sold out of practically everything I brought to my first show and soon found myself combing the countrysides of France, England and Belgium to find the best furniture, accessories, and collectibles for my clients.”

Susan now brings her latest finds to Market Hill. Among them, “my signature blue,” she says, “and a timeless look that combines beautiful antiques with elegant upholstery and distinctive lighting and accessories.” Elegant, timeless, traditional are words that describe Susan’s style.

I’m always up for sharing a cup of hot tea or a glass of wine when my clients come in. I have met so many new friends through this business. I am very grateful, and each one means a great deal to me.

Susan shares with us her excitement for the fall show at Market Hill. “Market Hill allows us to design a beautiful showroom that we can tailor to our own brand,” she says.

The brand she has created is based on quality as well as hospitality. It feels good to step into her showroom.

“We value our customers and appreciate their time,” she says. “We want to make them feel comfortable and welcome when they are shopping with us. I’m always up for sharing a cup of hot tea or a glass of wine when my clients come in. I have met so many new friends through this business. I am very grateful, and each one means a great deal to me.”

Designers, hoteliers, home builders, boutique owners, staging companies, and new homeowners are just a few of the buyers who will stop by and visit Susan. To provide a great inventory for them, Susan and her daughter, Meghan, travel abroad several times a year to assemble an exceptional collection of one-of-a-kind pieces.

“One of the great joys I have in this business is traveling the beautiful countryside of Europe with Meghan. We not only learn about the antiques we buy, but we also learn about our European friends and the history of their countries. We return with beautiful pieces for our clients and with special memories of time shared with friends that we will have forever.”

Her clients have come to appreciate her eye for unique and quality items.

“They value quality,” she says. “I love English antiques for several reasons. The depth of the wood, the lines, the brass hardware, the quality. I have a hard time parting with some of the pieces.”

Susan has been successful, because she knows her clients like a variety of styles, so she always has a wonderful selection of French, Italian and Spanish antiques as well.

“No matter the origin, antiques never go out of style. They go with every trend that may come and go. Antiques are unique, classic, timeless and full of personality. If you buy a piece with beautiful lines and curves, and it’s built well, it is unlikely to ever go out of style.”

Susan promises to have a great selection of antique furniture, mirrors, chandeliers, silver, ironstone and more. Whatever your cup of tea, Susan is happy to help you find it.
