The Boneyard at Round Top

David Snell and Mark Bowe bring barnwood builders to the Boneyard at Round Top.

The Boneyard at Round Top is the result of a business relationship that blossomed into a friendship. David Snell and Mark Bowe connected over their love of pioneer-era buildings, and they had a hunch that Round Top, Texas, and its surrounding areas would go crazy over these salvaged materials.

Mark has already established a fervent following on his DIY Network show, “Barnwood Builders,” which depicts a day in the life of Mark and crew as they carefully deconstruct pre-Civil War-era barns, save as much as they can, and repurpose them. In one episode, they score a barn built in 1830 by Abe Lincoln’s uncle, Josiah, in Depauw, Indiana. They take it apart, piece by piece, move it to Virginia, and turn it into someone’s dream home.

It’s a massive labor of love, and it’s easy to see that they love what they do and have fun doing it. Even though it’s serious work, they don’t take themselves too seriously, and that’s the feeling you get at The Boneyard at Round Top, where David and Mark have several concepts on-site including the salvage yard, as well as vendor space for antiques dealers, including Joey Sabb, Forever Green Art and The Neutral Nest. The Barnwood Cottage, the latest design from Barnwood Living, is available for sale.

“Our yard has the most amazing selection of salvaged, pioneer-era building materials. And, unique vendors with fantastic finds,” says Katherine Shelton of The Boneyard at Round Top. “Round Top is a magical place. Everyone is welcome, and the energy is contagious.”
